Strategy & Performance

ONCF closely follows the changing needs in phosphate transport of the OCP Group.

Indeed, in the framework of development of strategy geared to international activities, the Group has engaged in long-lasting partnerships with its main customers (India, Brazil, Pakistan) which should strongly boost the development of its activity.

These partnerships have seen the setting up of a joint venture for fertilizers and phosphoric acid at Jorf Lasfar, which will lead to a high increase in the consumption of phosphates.

To remain on a footing for respecting its commitments, ONCF has developed flexible transport capable of rapidly adapting to the pace of demand and several other projects have been completed or are in the process of implementation, i.e.:

  • Double-track of the railway between Nouasser and Jorf Lasfar,
  • Strengthening of the equipment pool through the acquisition of 340 new phosphate cars.
  • Acquisition of 21 phosphoric acid transport tanks.

Performance

The year 2006 saw practically the record performance levels as in 2005.

Figures in millions
Tonnage in 2004 Tonnage in 2005 Tonnage in 2006
Phosphates 25 266 27 008 27 120
Chemical Industries 3 340 3 740 3 930

These results testify to the group's capacity to adhere to its commitments with regard to international customers.

They also strengthen the ONCF/OCP partnership called upon to develop even more over forthcoming years.
