With regard to timetables, quality firstly means an attractive and practical offer, i.e., enough trains at the right time, a choice between express trains (stops at principal stations) local trains (stopping in each station) or direct trains (without connecting stops).
Quality also and above all means a steady pace of departures: if 4 trains connect two stations at a given time, a departure every ¼ hour is an ideal configuration because the traveler having missed a train will not have to wait long for the next one.
Two hundred and fifty trains instead of the current 152, better spaced out scheduling and improved travel time on the main lines are all principles followed as the basis of the transport plan for 2009 – 2013.
